Android 12 has released

Google has released Android 12

The latest version of Android, Android 12, was officially released. Google has released the official code for Android 12 after releasing several previous beta versions and successfully completing the testing phase. According to Google, Android 12 will be released in the next few weeks for the Google Pixel phones first and later this year for the Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Vivo, and Xiaomi phones.

We have not seen such big upgrades in the Android versions released in the versions before Android 12. But you can see a lot of significant improvements in Android 12. Today we'll talk about some of the special features.

1)Material You.

This is the biggest upgrade to Android 12. This is the latest version of Google's Material Design. This identifies the colors on the user's wallpaper and applies similar colors to different parts of the operating system's UI (User interface). Developers can also apply these colors to apps through an API (API is the acronym for Application Programming Interface, which is a software intermediary that allows two applications to connect with each other). Google has already redesigned several of their apps for this 'Material You'. 'Material You' works using the theme engine 'Monet' developed by Google. Android is an open source project but this Monet is not yet fully open source. Therefore, this 'Material You' will not be seen in the custom android 12 editions of other OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). Maybe that situation will change if they develop and use something similar to Material You.

'Material You' does not stop at color changing. The notifications panel has been redesigned and the power menu has been further simplified. Google has made a special request to Android developers to change the Android widgets to be suit with this new 'Material You' design.

2)Scrolling Screenshots

Some OEMs already have this feature in their Android fork, but this new version will officially include this feature in Android 12.

3)One-handed mode

A feature similar to "Reachability" in iOS is now officially available on Android 12. This brings the screen down and makes it easier to use when using the phone with one hand.

4)New privacy facilities.

On the newly added "privacy dashboard" page you can see how many permissions each app requires. A timeline also has been introduced to allow you to view permissions such as location, camera, and microphone. App permissions can be easily managed using this privacy dashboard page. Whenever the camera or microphone of the phone running Android 12 is used, the indicators show it in the status bar. New features have been added to completely stop the camera and microphone access requested by the apps.

What are the Android 12 release phones?

Anyone with the following Pixel phones will receive the Android 12 update in the next few weeks.

  1.  Google Pixel 3/3 XL
  2.  Google Pixel 3a / 3a XL
  3.  Google Pixel 4/4 XL
  4.  Google Pixel 4a
  5.  Google Pixel 4a 5G / 5
  6.  Google Pixel 5a 5G

Usually  Pixel phones get the update on the same day as the previous versions of Android. But this time it had to be delayed by a few weeks. Because the media spokesperson of Google  said that the final details of the Pixel-exclusive release of Android 12 are being done these days and accordingly, that work will take place in the next few weeks.

Google has provided the source code of the pre-release of Android 12  to major OEM partners such as Samsung, Xiaomi and OnePlus  even before they release it officially. So the development of their own Android 12 versions has already begun. That's why Android 12 will be released after Pixel for those phone models. Other OEMs will have to get the Android 12 source code on October 4 to carry out their development work.
