Let's talk about 'Modded' WhatsApp

What is ‘Modded’ WhatsApp?

WhatsApp is an app that everyone uses these days. This app is used by almost everyone for messaging, audio, video calls as well as file sharing. In addition, some people use unofficial WhatsApp modified apps. Two such popular modded apps are GBWhatsApp and FMWhatsApp. Although popular, are these apps really good? Let's talk about that today.

GBWhatsApp

GBWhatsApp is an app that modified the original WhatsApp. GBWhatsApp has been developed by removing some limitations of the original WhatsApp and improving some features. The most notable feature of GBWhatsApp is that it allows you to use two WhatsApp accounts on one device. Other features include custom themes, hidden chat, story download, larger file sending, online status hiding, and the ability to share more than 10 pictures at once. GBWhatsApp also offers auto-reply, message scheduling and high-resolution picture sharing. Simply put, GBWhatsApp is an app that hacked the original WhatsApp. We will not be able to find GBWhatsApp in the Google Play Store, instead we will have to download it from another third party website

FMWhatsApp is a modified version of WhatsApp, but with many features not available in the original app. Some of the special features found in FMWhatsApp are the increased group member limit, the ability to share more photos and the ability to share larger files. This app has advanced privacy features, for example we can select the contacts we can call, and the FMWhatsApp also has the ability to disable the blue tick for the read message. You can also view a collection of around 4000 themes run by a user community. Even if you didn’t save a number in FMWhatsApp, you can enter that number in the app and send messages. You can also create a group of up to 500 members in FMWhatsApp. It is also possible to send 60 photos at a time. The most special feature of this app is the ability to freeze last seen, with which you can actually hide the last seen. Is it safe to use these modified apps?

Actually, both these GBWhatsApp and FMWhatsApp apps are illegal. These are simply clone versions of the original WhatsApp. So, using apps like this goes against the terms we accept on WhatsApp. So, this is a reason why the WhatsApp accounts used in these modified apps is being banned.
Another danger is that these cloned apps have the potential to spread various malware. It has been reported that some versions of FMWhatsApp caused the spread of the malware called ‘Triada Trojan’. One of the reasons for the spread of malware in this way is the lack of a proper source to get these apps. Therefore, anyone can enter any malware and release these apps. For this reason, using GBWhatsApp, FMWhatsApp is against TOS and is a big danger to our personally. Despite the lack of facilities, it is wise to use official WhatsApp because of the above. It is not worth risking our WhatsApp account and privacy for more features.

Are you using any modified app?
